SKeyes for media freedom: “Stop judicial charges…and close the file completely” in Ismael Shaikh Hassan’s freedom of expression case

ضمّ مركز “سكايز” للحريات الإعلامية والثقافية اليوم الثلاثاء 31 آب صوته إلى المطالبين بوقف التعقبات القضائية بحق اسماعيل الشيخ حسن، المخطط المديني الذي أفرج عنه في 20 آب بعد احتجازه لمدة ليلتين في سجن القبّة شمال لبنان بسبب كتابته مقالة صحافية عن عرقلة إعادة إعمار مخيم نهر البارد والإجراءات الأمنية المرافقة. وطالب المركز الذي أكدّ على أنها قضية حرية تعبير بـ”اغلاق هذا الملف بشكل كامل ونهائي”.

After HWR report and solidarity by prominent Lebanese, Palestinian and international writers, the case of Ismael Shaikh Hassan and freedom of expression is gaining more momentum world widely by a new Belgian petition issued today Tuesday 24 Aug. initiatied by the prominent writer/professor Lieven De Cauter and Dr.Nurhan Abujidi, and co-signed by writers and professors. The petition calls for stopping any military charges against Ismael Shaikh Hassan. The petition is sent to the Lebanese embassy in Brussels and to senior officials.

إسماعيل الشيخ حسن استعاد حريته. أمس أُخلي سبيل المهندس بعدما أوقفته استخبارات الجيش عند حاجز مخيم نهر البارد يوم الأربعاء الماضي.

يروي الشيخ حسن أنه خضع للتحقيقات في اليوم الأول «عند استخبارات الجيش، ولم توجه إليّ أية تهمة». كان يكرر السؤال عن سبب توقيفه والتحقيق معه، فلا يلقى جواباً، لكن أسئلة المحققين تركزت على المقال الذي نشره في الزميلة «السفير» في 12 أيار الماضي تحت عنوان «شـرّ البليـة مـا يضحـك؟ دليل القوانين والإجراءات الرسمية في مخيم نهر البارد». المحققون رأوا أن المقال تضمن تهجماً على الجيش اللبناني، فيما هو يتضمن نقداً، بل يرى أن «المشكلة تكمن في السياسة التي تتبعها الدولة اللبنانية إزاء المخيم».

أخلي أمس سبيل المهندس والناشط في «هيئة العمل الأهلي والدراسات لإعادة إعمار مخيم نهر البارد» اسماعيل الشيخ حسن (مواليد 1980 – لبناني) بعدما كان اعتقال صباح الأربعاء الفائت، عند حاجز العبدة الواقع على تخوم المخيم، على أن يمثل في موعد لم يحدد بعد أمام قاض بتهمة «التحريض ضد الجيش اللبناني».
وقال الشيخ حسن لـ «السفير» أمس انه لا يعرف بعد حقيقة التهم المنسوبة إليه، باستثناء أنه سئل عن أسباب «تحريضه ضد الجيش ومهاجمته» أمام أهالي مخيم نهر البارد، من دون أن يتضح ما المعنى تماما بالتحريض».
وقد عمل الشيخ حسن، كمتطوع لأكثر من عامين مع «هيئة إعمار نهر البارد»، وهي منظمة محلية تعمل على إشراك السكان الفلسطينيين المحليين في خطط إعادة إعمار المخيم.
ويؤكدّ الشيخ حسن أنه لم يحرض يوما ضد الجيش، إلا أنه متمسك بالانتقادات التي يوجهها لأسلوبه في التعاطي مع ملف البارد، معتبرا أنه «نموذج سيئ لتدخل الدولة في أي مخيم».

وأضح الشيخ حسن أنه أوقف لدى مخابرات الجيش في اليوم الأول، حيث وجد أمام من حقق معه المقال الذي نشرته «السفير» له في 12 أيار الماضي وفيه انتقادات لسبل التعاطي مع ملف إعادة إعمار المخيم المدمّر، وقد سطرت بعض الجمل بالخط الأحمر.

HRW- (Beirut) –The Lebanese authorities should immediately release Ismael Sheikh Hassan, an urban planner detained by Military Intelligence on August 18, 2010, or promptly charge him with a recognizable crime, Human Rights Watch said today.

The Lebanese military released Ismael Sheikh Hasan on Friday afternoon after detaining him on Wednesday apparently because he wrote an article in which he is alleged to have insulted the army and it’s handling of the reconstruction Nahr al-Bared refugee camp. Hasan, an urban planner helping rebuild the destroyed camp, was detained when he tried to enter Nahr al-Bared and he now faces trial before the Military Tribunal in Beirut, he told NOW Lebanon.
